“This paper quilt was made in a single day on a vacuum table at the Carriage House Paper Mill in Brooklyn. Antique Japanese cloth is embedded in the thin translucent sheets of abaca and flax paper. Three empty chairs and three women’s voices tell scraps of stories from the past. The quilt isn’t finished, the stories aren’t finished, and a Charles Ives Song lingers [in the background].”
